With much respect to all the brave men and women presently fighting and who have lost their lives. This is a small but special tribute to all the black women of color fallen soldiers.  My prayers are with all the fallen soldiers and the loved ones they left behind. I also pray for this war to end and for everyone's safe return.

25, of Gary, Ind.; assigned to Marine Aerial Transport Re-fueler

Squadron 352, based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Calif.;

killed in a refueling tanker crash, in Pakistan.

November  02, 2003

20, of Livingston, Calif.; assigned to the 16th Signal Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Nov. 2 in an attack on a CH-47 Chinook helicopter near Fallujah, Iraq.

20, of Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico; assigned to the 151st Adjutant General Postal Detachment 3, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Nov. 2 in an attack on a CH-47 Chinook helicopter near Fallujah, Iraq.

22, died after receiving a series of shots in preparation for deployment to Afghanistan. She became ill right after the inoculations,

27, of Citrus Heights, Calif.; assigned to the 108th Military Police, Combat Support Co., Fort Bragg, N.C. died Jan. 14 when she was struck by a vehicle on Mosul Airfield in Mosul, Iraq.

 

Army Capt. Gussie M. Jones

 

March 07, 2004

41, of Raleigh, Ark.; assigned to the 31st Combat Support Hospital, Fort Bliss, Texas; died of a non-combat realted cause on March 7 in Baghdad.

Suffered a heart attack and died in the Baghdad hospital where she worked as a surgical nurse.

 

 

Army Spc. Tyanna S. Avery-Felder

April 07, 2004

22, of Bridgeport, Conn.; assigned to the 296th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.; died April 7 in Mosul, Iraq, of injuries sustained April 4 when her convoy vehicle was hit with an improvised explosive device in Balad, Iraq.

 

Army Pfc. Leslie D. Jackson

May 20, 2004

18, of Richmond, Va.; assigned to A Company, 115th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Ft. Hood, Texas; killed May 20 when her military vehicle hit an improvised explosive device as she was returning to Camp Eagle in Baghdad.

31, of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico; assigned to the 360th Transportation Company, 68th Corps Support Battalion, 43rd Area Support Group, Fort Carson, Colo.; died March 1 at the 228th Command Support Hospital in Tikirt, Iraq, from injuries sustained Feb. 28 in a military vehicle accident in Bayji, Iraq.

41, of Harvey, La.; assigned to Division Artillery, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; killed April 6 when the CH-47 helicopter in which she was riding crashed in Ghazni, Afghanistan. Fifteen service members were killed or are unaccounted for in the crash.
